About
JD Haas
JD was born in Warren, Minnesota near the North Dakota and Canadian borders. His father was a superintendent of schools and his mother was a librarian. Because his father became superintendent of a number of schools, JD and his family moved frequently, primarily in southwestern Minnesota. JD attended school in Bellingham, Round Lake, Chandler, and Verdi, Minnesota before graduating from Henderson High School in Henderson, Minnesota after his parents retired.
Legal Career Beginnings
JD graduated from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota in 1982, then graduated from Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota two years later in 1984. He began his legal career after passing the bar in 1985 by representing defendants and insurance companies in lawsuits.
But practicing trial law on behalf of defendants was somewhat frustrating for JD, because he could not build the strong relationships he desired with his clients. This was due to time constraints and the fact that most defendants and corporations sued would rather not be involved in the process.
Finding His Calling: Helping People Through Big Losses
In 1996, JD started representing families who have financial problems and families who have had family members seriously injured or killed by the carelessness of others. He realized then that he’d found his calling in helping good people through bad circumstances.
In the decades since, JD has enjoyed getting to know his clients well while helping them through difficult times. His law firm limits the number of cases that the legal team takes so that the lawyers can build a strong relationship with each client.
At JD Haas & Associates, PLLC, our clients are valued members of the team, and they work hard on their own cases.
